Traditional style marquee
As the name implies, a pole marquee is what most people consider to be the traditional marquee with center poles, side support poles, stakes and ropes. These marquees are somewhat more economical but take up slightly more space than an equivalent frame marquee.
Frame or Clearspan Marquee style UK
Another significant difference between frame marquee and pole tents is the price. Frame tents are more time-consuming to install and often cost more. Another major difference -- and one of great concern to the client -- is the aesthetics. A pole marquee has classic lines, graceful peaks and dips. It is unfettered and clean underneath. Frame tents may eliminate the need for center poles, but looking up from under a frame marquee, one sees a mass of aluminum piping
Framed marquees are a modern style of marquee. Instead of centre poles and ropes, these tents are supported by an aluminum skeleton around the edge.
- There is no central pole, which means more clear space inside the marquee and an unobstructed view for speeches.
- Portability. As framed structures can be secured to the ground with weights, no steel pegs are needed (although pegs are used where possible - and they are advisable in severe winds). Framed marquees can therefore be erected on hard surfaces where pegs could not be inserted.
- The absence of guy ropes also makes frame marquees especially suitable for town gardens as they can make the maximum use of space.
